And so 2017 is upon us. Last year was a lot of things to a lot of people, so I don’t want to spend many words reflecting, except to thank those who have followed my little foray into the world of blogging. I started this site without much of an agenda and unsure of what to expect, but I’ve been delighted and touched to interact with like-minded, genuine people who, like me, want to share their passion with others. My page is only small so far, but I’m excited to keep posting and improving in the future.
2017 is shaping up to be a cracking year for gaming. There will be two new consoles released in the Xbox Scorpio and the Nintendo Switch, as well as a few eagerly-awaited, big-budget games: I’m giddy with anticipation for both Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect: Andromeda, and to top that we can look forward to Red Dead Redemption 2 at the end of the year. There’s also the enticing prospect of seeing more from PS4’s incredible line-up of games in development, especially God of War, Detroit: Become Human and Insomniac’s Spider-Man – this year’s E3 should be mind-blowing.
With so much to look forward to, I’m curious to see what other people are holding their breath for. Feel free to share the games – or movies, or comics, or books, or TV – that you’re anticipating this year. I wish all of you the best in the coming months, in whatever you do.
Happy gaming,
Scott
I was looking at the big releases this year and realised most of them aren’t of interest to me. Resi 7 and Mass Effect perhaps, Zelda even though I won’t be getting a Switch (I suspect). But many seem uninteresting. I’m hoping for some good announcements soon or some cool indie games to sneak out, but on the whole I’m not too sold on 2017 yet.

I hoping Zelda is also released on the Wii U, and like *really* released, not released like Dragon Age: Inquisition where they released a copy for PS3 that felt like a “throwaway” because you were *supposed* to buy it on the PS4.

It was originally designed for WiiU wasn’t it? Maybe they’ll Twilight Princess it.
I forgot about Injustice 2 which I reckon I’ll enjoy too.

It was designed for WiiU originally. That would be wonderful if they release it on both equally! Hopefully the switch from disc to cartridge won’t make that too difficult (I really don’t know how all that programming works).

I wouldn’t have thought it would make a huge difference. I’d assume it would be the same information, just read in a different way. But I’m certainly no expert!

You’re probably right! Gosh, I really sounded like an old lady there, didn’t I? “I hope this new-fangled return-to-cartridge gaming doesn’t mess anything up!” (shakes cane at developers)

“Switch?! Why don’t they just call it a Nintendo? That’s what we did in my day!”

Disappointed by the lack of David Attenborough. Naw, just kidding 🙂 Great article! Looking forward to RDR2 af

Yeah, I’m looking forward (with tentative hope) to Mass Effect: Andromeda, the new Zelda game, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Otherwise I’m looking forward to a year of completing my backlog! (Barring some great, unexpected announcements).

I’m excited for all the games you mentioned. I’m really excited for Horizon: Zero Dawn, I think it’s quite an ambitious game so will be interesting to see if it lives up to the expectation. Also if it does get a 2017 release, Days Gone has a lot of promise.
